Felting
'Painting' with Merino / Corriedale wool fibres can create quite unpredictable but very satisfying results. The wool fibres are laid out along with various silk and other fibres and hot water and soap are added. The piece of work is then rubbed and rolled causing the fibres to matt together. Shrinkage occurs and what began as several layers of fibres becomes an individual piece of felt art which can be then added to using a sewing machine, hand stitching or needle felting. 3D felted objects can also be made using the same basic technique.
